    Jolie sélection multiple
    Le plugin Chosen permet d’améliorer l’ergonomie des champs de sélection multiple. Voir les deux images suivantes pour comparer.

     Through optimizing your messaging, content, or your page layouts, you can increase conversions by getting your visitors through a clear pathway to achieve your business goals.

    Conversion Rate Optimization

    When we talk about optimizing websites to improve and increase conversions, we’re really talking about conversion rate optimization (CRO).

    CRO is the process of learning what the most valuable content/aspect of your website is and how to best optimize this for your visitors to increase its chance to convert. It typically involves generating ideas for elements on your site or app that can be improved, learning which pathways visitors are most likely going to take to conversion and then validating those assumptions through A/B testing and multivariate testing to transform learning into actionable insights.

    The conversion rate is expressed as a % and the goal for any business should be to increase the % of conversions for any given goal e.g. in February a website had 200 newsletter sign-ups from 1,000 visitors on its sign-up page, a conversion rate of 20%. CRO should be used to increase the sign-up rate from 20% to 25%, and then eventually from 25% to 30% and so on.

    You need to consider your website or business’ objectives (bigger picture) as well as your website goals (smaller achievements). Whatever the aim of your website, it’s crucial for this to be your starting point. Figure out what you want your website to do and what you want visitors to get from it. When you do that, you’ll know what conversions to focus on.
    • Define your business/website’s objectives. Do you want the website to drive sales ? Is the website a hub to raise awareness for a charity ? Do you want to increase readership for your news site ?
    • Define what your conversion goals are. This helps you narrow your focus so you follow a path to meet your overall objectives. By defining these, you clarify for yourself the next actions you should take, such as wanting to funnel users through to a sign up landing page. Then you’ll need to optimize and test your sign up landing page. If conversions are low, then tweak it and measure the results until you find you’ve increased conversion rates.
    • Conversion goals can include :
      • Purchases in your ecommerce store
      • eBook downloads
      • Sign ups to your mailing list
      • Visitors successfully filling in a contact form
    • Figure out what your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are and the metrics you need to focus on to achieve them.

    How to improve conversion rates with Heatmaps :

    • If you’ve got important information that will sell your service/product or bring you loyal followers, make sure it’s in the hot zones as shown in your heatmaps.
    • Try to rearrange parts of your pages to see if that increases engagement.
    • Make it easy for people to take important actions by having the CTA above-the-fold where 100% of visitors see it. Make sure you don’t clutter this section with too many messages or actions.

    3. Session Recordings

    4. A/B Testing

    Test anything and test anywhere to increase your conversions. Grow your website by comparing different versions of your landing pages to determine what works best for your users. Subtle tweaks across different versions of your landing pages can have a significant impact on converting incoming traffic.

    • A different headline

    How Matomo used A/B Testing : For our sign up page we tested three different CTAs and found how phrasing words differently could help improve conversion rates. Both “Start improving your websites” and “Start converting more users now” were stronger CTAs and converted 7% more than, “Start my free 30-day trial”.

    5. Form Analytics

    Form Analytics gives you powerful insights into how your visitors interact with your forms (like cart, sign-up and checkout forms).

    6. Funnels

  • C++ ffmpeg real-time video transmisson

    I am a student currently working on my final project. Our project is focusing on new type network coding research. Now my task is to do a real-time video transmission to test the network coding. I have learned something of ffmepg and opencv and have finished a c++ program which can divide the video into frames and send it frame by frame. However, by this way, the transmission data (the frames)size are quite much more than the original video file size. My prof advise me try to find the keyframe and inter frame diff of the video (mjpeg format), so that transmit the keyframe and interframe diff only instead of all the frames with large amount of redundancy, and therefore reduce the transmission data. I have no idea in how to do this in c++ and ffmpeg or opencv. Can any one give any advice ?

  • How to write unit tests for your plugin – Introducing the Piwik Platform

    This is the next post of our blog series where we introduce the capabilities of the Piwik platform (our previous post was How to verify user permissions). This time you’ll learn how to write unit tests in Piwik. For this tutorial you will need to have basic knowledge of PHP, PHPUnit and the Piwik platform.

    When is a test a unit test ?

    There are many different opinions on this and it can be sometimes hard to decide. At Piwik we consider a test as a unit test if only a single method or class is being tested and if a test does not have a dependency to the filesystem, web, config, database or to any other plugin.

    If a test is slow it can be an indicator that it is not a unit test. “Slow” is of course a bit vague. We will cover how to write other type of tests, such as integration tests, in one of our next blog posts.

    Getting started

    In this post, we assume that you have already installed Piwik 2.9.0 or later via git, set up your development environment and created a plugin. If not, visit the Piwik Developer Zone where you’ll find the tutorial Setting up Piwik and other Guides that help you to develop a plugin.

    Let’s create a unit test

    We start by using the Piwik Console to create a new unit test :

    ./console generate:test --testtype unit

    The command will ask you to enter the name of the plugin the created test should belong to. I will use the plugin name “Insights”. Next it will ask you for the name of the test. Here you usually enter the name of the class you want to test. I will use “Widgets” in this example. There should now be a file plugins/Insights/tests/Unit/WidgetsTest.php which contains already an example to get you started easily :

    We don’t want to cover how you should write your unit test. This is totally up to you. If you have no experience in writing unit tests yet, we recommend to read articles on the topic, or a book, or to watch videos or anything else that will help you learn best.

    Running a test

    To run a test we will use the command tests:run which allows you to execute a test suite, a specific file or a group of tests.

    To verify whether the created test works we will run it as follows :

    ./console tests:run WidgetsTest

    This will run all tests having the group WidgetsTest. As other tests can use the same group you might want to pass the path to your test file instead :

    ./console tests:run plugins/Insights/tests/Unit/Widgets.php

    If you want to run all tests within your plugin pass the name of your plugin as an argument :

    ./console tests:run insights

    Of course you can also define multiple arguments :

    ./console tests:run insights WidgetsTest

    This will execute all tests within the insights plugin having the group WidgetsTest. If you only want to run unit tests within your plugin you can do the following :

    ./console tests:run insights unit

    Advanced features

    Isn’t it easy to create a unit test ? We never even created a file ! You can accomplish even more if you want : You can generate other type of tests, you can run tests on Amazon’s AWS and more. Unfortunately, not everything is documented yet so we recommend to discover more features by executing the commands ./console list tests and ./console help tests:run.
