I’m using x264 for live video streaming and I’ve noticed that the thread
responsible for encoding uses more cpu (sometimes 50% more with 1920x1080) when the video stream is frozen (i.e. : camera is sending the same frame over an over again) or when I make it encode the same image over and over again.This seems somewhat counter intuitive to me, as I would expect x264 to use
more processing power when encoding complex scenes other then static ones.My encoder settings are the following :

with movements. (You can find my test case and also the output from my test
encoder on the link above).
I’ve also noticed that by settingscenecut=0, subme=0, trellis=0 and me=dia
I can get rid of this problem, but with noticeable quality decrease.
Could anyone, please, shed some light on the reasons for this odd behavior ?
Also, what can be done in order to avoid this situation without a major decrease in quality ? -
FFMPEG crash while cropping video
18 octobre 2022, par Khawar RazaI am using FFMPEG to crop a video. I am using ffmpeg-kit as a ffmpeg wrapper in my android app where the user can select any output size irrespective of the original video aspect ratio. Below is the problematic command :

I don't know what is wrong with the output width and height parameters. If I change
[0:v]crop=304:236:2:2[cropped]
to[0:v]crop=304:304:2:2[cropped]
with change in height, the process completes successfully. The original video (1080x808) is not smaller than the output size. It does not seem to be a problem in the video as I have tried different videos. Any tips on what is missing from my command ?

ffmpeg command for overlaying a video onto am image with blend

- 

- ffmpeg to produce a mp4 video
- inputs : an image of varying size, an audio wav of X length, a video for the overlay such as particles or dust
- create an mp4 with the image as the final video size, the overlay video light blended into the image using zoom/crop (no stretching of size), length of video is size of audio
- assume the video overlay is bigger than the image as far as height and width
