Xubuntu ffmpeg screen capturing very slow when no display connected
8 décembre 2022, par fre_derI use ffmpeg on an Intel Nuc with Xubuntu 22.04 (XFCE4, lightdm), with x11grab for screen capturing the desktop, and sending output to a multicast UDP stream (which is shown on different IPTV sets in the network).
The system uses autologin, and autostarts Firefox in kiosk mode, rendering a html5 video.

Everything works fine when a display is attached, but from the moment the hdmi cable is detached, the output video is extremely slow (very shaky, looks like 1 fps, audio is OK although it has occasional hickups).

CPU and memory usage doesn't seem to be affected whether a display is attached or not.

This runs fine on Xubuntu 18.04, although there might be small config changes that I'm not aware of.

To be able to display output when no display is attached, I created a VIRTUAL1 display :

xrandr -d :0 --verbose --newmode "1920x1080_60.00" 173.00 1920 2048 2248 2576 1080 1083 1088 1120 -hsync +vsync
xrandr -d :0 --verbose --addmode VIRTUAL1 "1920x1080_60.00"

my /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf looks like :

Section "Device"
 Identifier "Intel Graphics"
 Driver "intel"
 Option "VirtualHeads" "1"
 Option "TearFree" "true"
 Option "TripleBuffer" "true"
 Option "DRI" "false"
EndSection

The ffmpeg command :

ffmpeg -r 25 -thread_queue_size 512 -f x11grab -s 1920x1080 -i :0 -thread_queue_size 512 -f alsa -i default -c:a mp2 -f mpegts udp://239.255.255.8:50000?pkt_size=1316

(during trial/error I tested various ffmpeg command line options to no avail)

Output with hdmi cable attached :

Audio and Video Recording Issues with FFMPEG [closed]
7 octobre 2023, par Austin AlthouseI am trying to use FFMPEG to stream a specific window on my computer. While the video works flawlessly, adding the audio is being problematic. Whenever I had audio (using -f dshow), the video's fps dramatically drops to 3 to 5 fps and a ton of dropped frames occur. Here is the command I am using : ffmpeg -f gdigrab -draw_mouse 0 -i title="MainWindow" -f dshow -i audio="CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)" -c:v mpeg2video -b:v 4000k -c:a aac -b:a 64k -f mpegts udp ://localhost:1234

The audio doesn't seem clear also.

What is going on and how can I fix it ?

I tried different commands with no success.

RaspberryPi HQ camera not working with FFMPEG [closed]
12 mars 2024, par GeeTeeI just want to prefix this by saying I'm still quite fresh to linux so please bare with me as I don't always know exactly what I'm looking at.

Hardware : Raspberry Pi 5 4GB / Pi HQ camera (connected with adapter cable)
OS : Debain V12 (bookworm)
FFMPEG : ffmpeg version 5.1.4-0+rpt3+deb12u1
I2C = Enabled
X / Wayland : Wayland (had to use this for VNC)

I know the camera works as : when I use
rpicam-vid -t 0
I have a working preview without issue (albeit slightly stuttery)

When I try to enter
ffmpeg -f v4l2 -i /dev/video0
I get the following :
(with the goal of having some video in a preview window)

[video4linux2,v4l2 @ 0x5555a0811a20] ioctl(VIDIOC_G_PARM): Inappropriate ioctl for device
[video4linux2,v4l2 @ 0x5555a0811a20] Time per frame unknown
[video4linux2,v4l2 @ 0x5555a0811a20] ioctl(VIDIOC_STREAMON): Invalid argument
/dev/video0: Invalid argument

I have also tried
ffplay -f v4l2 -i /dev/video0
and get the same error as above.

Following other forums I've tried (I'm not sure this is all necessary but to cover all bases, and save time) :

Not sure why so many of these are unsupported, I saw a video on YouTube with the same camera and older Pi and he did not have so many unsupported.

Also, I ran the config file in the ffmpeg directory and I think it generated some additional files (wasn't working before either) are these normal ? (ffmpeg $ ls)

A side question : How do I enable and disable libraries ? I tried entering —enable-pulse for example (with and without spaces and prefixed by ffmpeg) but get an error along the lines of unrecognised option or command not found. (I've tried google but as mentioned prior, I'm a bit lost)

Thanks in advance.
