  • VLC libx264 build error - "undefined reference to 'x264_encoder_open_128'"

17 janvier 2013, par Tyler Scott

    Primary issue

Steps to attempt to repeat this error.

    • Download latest git (git ://git.videolan.org/x264.git).
    • Run ./configure - You can use any options, the error is present with all.
    • Run sudo make - It will compile all of the code but when it comes time to link the code it runs into the error

      /usr/local/lib/libavcodec.a(libx264.o) : In function 'X264_init' :
      /.../libx264.c:418 : undefined reference to 'x264_encoder_open_128'

This will then fall out and exit make. I have removed all apt packages relating to x264. I have searched my computer for any possible libraries that might be related and removed them. This problem persists. Can someone explain what is going wrong and the simplest way to solve this ?

    Additional info

This error also shows up when building avconv. It also fails at linking time with the same error. So I can assume it is nothing wrong with that directory or source.

  • Linking with ffmpeg shared build

    28 janvier 2013, par Sriram

I am trying to work with the ffmpeg library on a cygwin development environment. I downloaded the shared build from here (64-bit). The bin folders contain dlls but no .a or .dll.a files. Linking, which is done like so :

    $ gcc encoding_mp3.o -L/cygdrive/c/Users/Desktop/webserver/cygnus/lib/w32api -L/cygdrive/c/Users/Desktop/webserver/cygnus/ffmpeg/ffmpeg_shared/bin -lavcodec-54 -lm -luser32 -lpthread -o encoding_mp3

results in the following error :

/cygdrive/c/Users/Desktop/webserver/cygnus/ffmpeg/ffmpeg_shared/bin/avcodec-54.dll: file not recognized: File format not recognized collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

    My question(s) :
    1. The bin/ folder in the shared build contains only avcodec-54.dll. Is there a way to convert the dll to a dll.a or .a ?
    2. Where am I going wrong ?

If source code is required, please let me know.

  • ffmpeg and pulse audio creating buzzy speech

    17 juin 2017, par flashape

I’m attempting to record video and audio from an ec2 instance (Ubuntu 16.04), using xvfb and pulse audio. Everything works fine, except that the output file contains "buzzy" speech (not sure if this is what "clipping" is ?). This happens using either aac or mp3 audio codecs.

    Sample audio file : http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=86237391396073526211

    ffmpeg command :

    ffmpeg \
    -f x11grab -framerate 30 -video_size ${SCREEN_WIDTH}x${SCREEN_HEIGHT} -i :1.0 \
    -f pulse -i default \
    -c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -maxrate 2500k -bufsize 2500k -vf "format=yuv420p" -g 60 \
    -c:a aac -strict -2 -channel_layout stereo  -ab 256k -ar 48000 -bufsize 512k -ac 2  \
    -flags +global_header -f flv "test.mp4"

The output from ffmpeg when I run the command :

Based on various posts, I thought it might be something in the pulse config, particularly the "resample-method" setting, but that doesn’t appear to do anything. Here is how the /etc/pulse/daemon.conf config file currently stands :

    Edit :

Ok, updated the ffmpeg command to capture only the audio, but still have the same issue :

    ffmpeg \
    -f pulse -i default \
    -c:a aac -strict -2 -channel_layout stereo  -ab 256k -ar 48000 -bufsize 512k -ac 2  \
    test.aac

I do get some interesting messages in the output about timestamps being off :
