  • Compiling ffmpeg and using gas-preprocessor on Tiger ?

    19 avril 2016, par Tom

    Beginner trying to compile ffmpeg on a PowerMac G4, Mac OS X 10.4.11, Xcode 2.5 for use on this Mac (not iOS).

    I started out with Stephen Jungels tutorial (link), although it doesn’t cover Mac OS X 10.4 per se. I install LAME, FAAC/FAAD and x264 without errors. All goes well until I use ./configure for ffmpeg :

    ./configure --enable-shared --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libfaac --enable-libx264 --enable-gpl --enable-nonfree

    After some crunching, I get "Creating config.mak and config.h..." and an error "WARNING : GNU assembler not found, install gas-preprocessor". So I look for it online (https://github.com/yuvi/gas-preprocessor), move "gas-preprocessor.pl" to /usr/local/bin as instructed. Apparently it isn’t doing anything, as repeated configure gives the same error. Having gas-preprocessor.pl in the ffmpeg dir doesn’t seem to help either.

    Am I missing something that I should be doing with gas-preprocessor.pl ?

  • FFMPEG realtime streaming using a remote m3u8

    8 avril 2016, par JJ The Second

    Good morning chaps,

    I’ve been doing a long term research to do DRM solution for my client and we are almost there, here is what we’d like to achieve and please accept my lack of understanding, Im well new to FFMPEG and there are so many questions already asked but I’m not sure if they cover my questions.

    Objectives :

    1- To record and stream (real-time) m3u8 from a remote server : We have access to more than 3000 HLS streams (b2b project) therefore we would need to record and stream m3u8 in real-time. Currently I am able to record to mp4 or mkv but don’t understand how to stream real time

    2- Stream using HL264 : We would need to make sure streams play on all devices, based on my understanding this is the correct format to use, is this correct, more than happy to hear your comments

    3- Delivery to be in 3 different resolutions, HD, 488 and 380 : This is all about sizes, it is unlikely that my users would stream using mobile devices (GA says only 32000 using mobile) but still I need to make sure there are no restrictions to users

    Questions :

    1- I’ve seen lots of tutorials with regards to recording m3u8, converting to mp4 or .ts files, so I’m not sure how this works, do I need to export my recording to .ts files and merge them again ? If this is the case, isn’t this going to have delay in streaming ?

    2- By doing this, am I using my bandwidth or source of m3u8 ?

    3- If converting to .ts then would you please let me know how I can achieve this ?

    Please note, my recording are (for now) all m3u8 and I need to stream as m3u8 at the same time.

    I have latest version of FFMPEG installed on Ubuntu 14.4 TLS

    Thank you all in advance and happy Friday !

  • FFPlay - SDP Could not find codec parameters

    4 mars 2016, par LostBoy

    I’m using the FFMpeg development libraries to generate an embedded application streaming camera images via RTP. My current example is based on the muxing.c example from FFMpeg 2.7.
    I use the av_sdp_create to dump the SDP before avformat_write_header and the program streams RTP packets indefinitely afterwards. With a little work, I’m able to extract a video file from packets received on the destination in Wireshark.

    The content of the generated SDP is :

    v=0
    o=- 0 0 IN IP4 127.0.0.1
    s=No Name
    c=IN IP4 224.1.1.1
    t=0 0
    a=tool:libavformat 57.25.100
    m=video 5555 RTP/AVP 96
    b=AS:400
    a=rtpmap:96 MP4V-ES/90000
    a=fmtp:96 profile-level-id=1

    However, when I try to receive the video with ffplay, I get the following messages :

    [sdp @ 0xb0400480] Could not find codec parameters (Video: mpeg4, yuv420p)
    [sdp @ 0xb0400480] Estimating duration from bitrate, this may be inaccurate
    test.sdp: could not find codec parameters

    Is there anything missing in this SDP ?

    I also tried to receive the stream with VLC with the same depressing result. I also tried to use other codecs (mainly MPEG2VIDEO) during transmission, the received RTP packets seem correct in Wireshark, but playback also fails. I am at a loss about the SDP.
