  • Unknown V4L2 pixel format equivalent for yuva420p with ffmpeg and v4l2loopback

    7 février 2019, par Kim

I am trying to use filter_complex from ffmpeg to stich several video input together into one output.

I use v4l2loopback to create a virtual video device :

    sudo modprobe v4l2loopback video_nr=90

In this example, i first try with only one camera :

v4l2-ctl --device=/dev/video0 --info gives the following output :

    What I tried and didn’t work :

    • use -f h264 for the output, which ends in a av_interleaved_write_frame(): Invalid argument error
  • Ffmpeg lose streams while using -map 0

    27 mars 2016, par Ngoral

I had a strange issue using ffmpeg on Ubuntu 14.04.
    I run a command

    ffmpeg -i output2.avi -c:v h264 -minrate 2000k -maxrate 5000k -bufsize 2000k -profile:v high -level:v 4 -coder 1 -s 640x360 -bf 0 -pix_fmt yuv420p -r 25 -g 25 -c:a aac -ar 48k -b:a 321k -map 0 -y outpu.mp4

It provides such a usual output in console (already with -loglevel verbose) :

    What’s wrong with it ?
It works fine on my Win machine, on virtual machine with Ubuntu on it, but as ran on real Ubuntu it behaves like this. Do you have any ideas ?
    Thanks !

  • FFMPEG - Green cast with Splash image in video

    30 mai 2020, par rossmcm

I'm using FFMPEG to produce a video consisting of a single monchrome JPG image :

    ffmpeg -y -loop 1 -framerate 30 -t 5 -i SplashBW.jpg Splash.mp4

There are two issues with the resulting video :

    • When viewed with VLC it has a green cast
    •

    • When viewed with "Film and TV" (I suspect this is the Windows 10
viewer - the association for MP4 files seems to have been hijacked
on my PC) it has a green cast and a predominant flickering every
0.5 seconds or so.
    •

When viewed with Irfan View it looks fine. I don't know whether the issue is with the original JPG, the FFMPEG command, or the viewers. Naturally, I want it to render properly on all outputs.

The first two links below look fine in my browser (Chrome) when I open them. The third link is a screen recording of what I see when I try to play the video with the Film and TVapp.
