How do you get Matomo Analytics for WordPress ?

You can then upload it in your WordPress by going to “Plugins => Add New”. During the upload, if you get an error like “Are you sure you want to do this ?”, we recommend you upload the extracted zip file on to your server and into your ‘wp-content/plugins’ folder manually using ftp or ssh. Make sure the plugin name is ‘matomo’.

All you need is at least WordPress 4.8 and PHP 7.0 or later. MySQL 5.1+ is recommended.

The source code is available at : https://github.com/matomo-org/wp-matomo/

In perfect harmony : Matomo and WordPress

    Matomo Analytics for WordPress

The idea for this started two years ago when we realised the similarities between the Matomo and WordPress project.

Not only from a technological point of view – where both are based on PHP and MySQL and can be extended using plugins – but also from a philosophical, license and values point of view. We both believe in privacy, security, data ownership, openness, transparency, having things working out-of-the-box, simplicity etc.

WordPress is currently used on approximately 30% of all websites. Many of them use the self-hosted open-source WordPress version. Giving everyone in this market the opportunity to easily get a powerful web analytics platform for free, means a lot to us. We believe WordPress users get a real choice besides the standard solution of Google Analytics, and it furthers our effort and goal of decentralising the internet.

We’re hoping more people will be empowered to protect user privacy, have access to a great free and open-source tool, and keep control of data in their own hands.

We hope you feel the same. Help us spread the word to your friends and get them in on this awesome new project !

    FAQs

Isn’t there already a WP-Matomo plugin for WordPress available ?

Yes, the existing WP-Matomo (WP-Piwik) plugin is an awesome plugin to connect your existing Matomo On-Premise or Matomo Cloud account with WordPress. The difference is that this new plugin installs Matomo Analytics fully in your WordPress. So you get the convenience of having a powerful analytics platform within your WordPress.

We highly recommend you install this new plugin if you use WordPress and are not running Matomo yet.

If you are already using Matomo on our Cloud or On-Premise, we’d still highly recommend you use WP-Matomo (WP-Piwik). So that you get an easier way of inserting the tracking code into your WordPress site and get insights faster.

I have a high traffic website, will it be an issue ?

If you have a lot of traffic, we’d advise you to install Matomo On-Premise separately. There’s no specific traffic threshold we can give you on when it’s better to use Matomo On-Premise. It really depends on your server.

We reckon if you have more than 500,000 page views a month, you may want to think about using Matomo On-Premise with WP-Matomo instead, but this is just an estimate. In general, if the load on your server is already quite high, then it might be better to install Matomo on a separate server. See also recommended server sizing for running Matomo.

How do I report a bug or request a new feature in Matomo for WordPress ?

Please create an issue, on our repository whenever you find a bug or if you have any suggestion or ideas of improvement. We want to build an outstanding analytics experience for WordPress !

  • Concatenating multiple mp4 files [duplicate]

18 octobre 2019, par Mr Medusa

This question already has an answer here :

I’m currently trying to join multiple mp4 video files into one file, and I found the ffmpeg library and looked at a lot of ways on how I should use it.
    Currently I’m using ffmpeg -f concat -safe 0 -i mylist.txt -c copy output.mp4

This should work, but for some reason it doesn’t. My terminal is filled with this

(Can’t give anymore output than this)

[mp4 @ 000002ce260bc180] Non-monotonous DTS in output stream 0:0; previous: 24541175, current: 5482875; changing to 24541176. This may result in incorrect timestamps in the output file.
[mp4 @ 000002ce260bc180] Non-monotonous DTS in output stream 0:0; previous: 24541176, current: 5483397; changing to 24541177. This may result in incorrect timestamps in the output file.
[mp4 @ 000002ce260bc180] Non-monotonous DTS in output stream 0:0; previous: 24541177, current: 5483904; changing to 24541178. This may result in incorrect timestamps in the output file.

At least one output file must be specified

I’ve read most of the posts on here about ffmpeg causing this issue for other people, but none of the fixes that are explained have worked for me.
The video output I get seems fine for the first video, but then once it’s supposed to transition into the other videos it just "freezes" or sets the speed to something like 100x. Output video also ends up being 28 minutes long instead of 2.8 minutes.
Anyone able to help me ?

  • Date and segment comparison feature

31 octobre 2019, par Matomo Core Team — Analytics Tips, Development

Get a clearer picture with the date and segment comparison feature

What can you do with it ? What are the benefits ?

Make informed decisions faster by easily comparing different segments and dates with each other.

Compare report data for multiple segments next to each other

    Segment comparison feature

Directly compare the behaviour of visitors from different segments e.g. customers with accounts vs. customers without accounts. Segment comparisons are a powerful way to compare different audience ; learn which ones perform better ; and in what way their actions differ.

Compare report data for two time periods next to each other

    Comparing date ranges

See how your website performs compared to the previous month/week/year. Including seeing trends over those periods. Say, your business always picks up at the same times within a year, or there’s a sag in business for every user segment over this year and the last except one.

By being able to compare date ranges you are able to get a quick overview of trends and period to period performance. Has a campaign worked better in September than in October ? Get an instant look by having the side-by-side comparison in Matomo.

What is it capable of ?

It lets you ask the question, “What is different ?”

If you look at reports you’ll only see how people behave overall and if you look at specific segments you’ll see how they behave at face value, however, if you compare data together you’ll be quickly informed on what makes them unique. This data is still there when you don’t use the comparison feature, it’s just buried. Comparing data highlights discrepancies and leads to important questions and answers.

For example, perhaps some class of users have very low engagement on a specific day compared to the rest of your visitors, and perhaps those users are responsible for an outsized proportion of churn.

Who could benefit from it, and why ?

Everyone can benefit from using it (and probably should use it). It’s yours to experiment with ! You shouldn’t feel restricted to only comparing between the current and last period, or having questions before you start comparing. Follow your instincts and see what pops out when data from different segments is laid out next to each other.

Where can you find it in Matomo ?

    • Segment comparison is activated by the new icon in the segment selector
    Segment comparison feature
    • Date comparison can be found in the calendar section of Matomo
    Date comparison feature
    • The list of active comparisons is visible at the top of the page for all pages that support comparison
    • Comparisons are visible in every report that supports comparing data, and reports that do not support it will display a message saying so

How do you use it ?

    • To compare segments, click the icon in the segment selector
    • To compare periods, click the ‘compare’ checkbox in the period selector, then select what period you want to compare it against in the dropdown (previous period, previous year, or a custom range)
    • When comparisons are active, view your reports as normal

    Take it away !

The comparison feature is a new tool from Matomo 3.12.0 that highlights discrepancies and differences in data that can lead to more clarity and understanding, so we’d encourage everyone to use it.

Try it out today in your Matomo and see the power behind this new data comparison mode !
