Creating farms of unique websites
13 avril 2011, parMediaSPIP platforms can be installed as a farm, with a single "core" hosted on a dedicated server and used by multiple websites.
This allows (among other things) : implementation costs to be shared between several different projects / individuals rapid deployment of multiple unique sites creation of groups of like-minded sites, making it possible to browse media in a more controlled and selective environment than the major "open" (...) -
Automated installation script of MediaSPIP
25 avril 2011, parTo overcome the difficulties mainly due to the installation of server side software dependencies, an "all-in-one" installation script written in bash was created to facilitate this step on a server with a compatible Linux distribution.
You must have access to your server via SSH and a root account to use it, which will install the dependencies. Contact your provider if you do not have that.
The documentation of the use of this installation script is available here.

Other interesting software
13 avril 2011, parWe don’t claim to be the only ones doing what we do ... and especially not to assert claims to be the best either ... What we do, we just try to do it well and getting better ...
The following list represents softwares that tend to be more or less as MediaSPIP or that MediaSPIP tries more or less to do the same, whatever ...
We don’t know them, we didn’t try them, but you can take a peek.

how to explicitly specify matroska format file to be VFR
19 janvier 2012, par UlteriorI am moving my code performing AVI recording with ffmpeg library to matroska format due to native support of VFR stated by format. Changing guess_format to
matroska
not touching any other settings produced an mkv file which seems to be ok. But the MediaInfo reports it to be CFS (30).How do I explicitly state that its VFR ?

Why won't some MP4 videos start streaming until the entire file is downloaded ?
28 janvier 2016, par SujeetI’m working on an application where users upload a video and play it back the browser using jwplayer, jplayer, flowplayer, etc. Some videos play immediately, while others wait until the entire video file has been downloaded.
I’m using ffmpeg to convert the video to mp4 format.
Here is some detailed information about one of the video files I tried.

Translating Handbrake options to a FFMPEG command
9 mai 2020, par ArifI want to convert a bunch of videos from x264 to x265, but I need to do so with ffmpeg in terminal because it's a remote server. These are my Handbrake options (listed items are ticked) :

Summary tab

-

- Web optimized
- Align A/V Start

Dimensions tab unchanged

Filters tab

-

- Sharpen - LapSharp, preset : Medium

Video tab

-

-
Video codec - H.265 (x265)
-
Framerate (FPS) - 30 - Peak Framerate
-
Quality - Constant Quality - 28
-
Encoder preset - Medium
-
Encoder tune - None
-
Encoder profile - Auto

Audio tab

-

- Audio track - AAC, bitrate : 128

Subtitles tab - No subtitles (remove if exists)

This is the ffmpeg command that I've managed to compile so far :

ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -c:v libx265 -crf 28 -c:a aac -b:a 128k -max_muxing_queue_size 400 -movflags +faststart output.mp4

I have the following two questions :

-

- Does the ffmpeg command provided list all the options except the peak framerate, sharpening filter and removing subtitle ones ? How do I incorporate these three ?
- Slightly unrelated, but does having
-max_muxing_queue_size 400
negatively affect file size or video quality ? I've only included this because I'd ran into encoding errors in the past.

Thank you.

My Handbrake log with the above options, if it helps :
