• NodeJS - Stream MP3 Audio Playlist from fixed HTTP endpoint

  I’d like to stream a playlist of mp3 audio files from a fixed HTTP endpoint on my server, e.g. http://localhost/stream.mp3. I am dynamically generating a number of mp3 files, so when I setup this fixed endpoint, I don’t yet have a complete list of the audio files I want to broadcast.

  Is there a way in which I can generate this kind of fixed streaming endpoint and start with one file, and then queue up the rest as I continue to generate them ? I’m using NodeJS/Express as my web-server, and generating my audio files with FFMPEG.

  I searched all similar questions on StackOverflow, but found none to answer my problem.

  I am trying to stream some movies from my Linux computer (openSuSE 12.1) to my iPad. I convert them with ffmpeg, segment them with my own segmenter, place them in the www folder of my apache2 server and also place inside the .m3u8 playlist. Til here - all is ok !

  I start playing the movie (HTML page with tag) and it plays nicely, but only the first five segments, which have been loaded with the first load of the playlist. The HTML page (the browser, or the player - no idea) does not refresh (re-download) the playlist from the server. Here is what my .m3u8 playlist file looks like :

  Segments are in the same folder as the playlist file, segments are correctly encoded (because I can see at least the first five ones :D). I also watch the access_log from the apache server and I see the first load of the playlist, then the consequent load of all 5 segments and it stops till there. It doesn't even try to further refresh the m3u8 file.

  If it matters - iOS 5.0, iPad 2, Wi-Fi version only, not jailbroken

  Ideas ? What am I doing wrong ?

  I've read the SO problem , and it seems not applying to my specific case.

  


  Is it possible to fetch some key-frames of a video from web server by the HTTP Range header ? For example, for a 30 seconds duration video, we'd like to analysis the I-frame around 00:00:02, 00:00:15, 00:00:28.

  


  I need to analysis the videos from internal web server to detect if there's specific watermarks in it and some other analysis.

  


  Since the first I-frame might be invalid sometimes(Logo for example), we were planning to extract the I-frame from the 00:00:02, the middle I-frame, and the last 2nd second I-frame.

  


  For example, for a 30 seconds duration video, we'd like to analysis the I-frame around 00:00:02, 00:00:15, 00:00:28.

  


  We could make it works while download the whole video, since most of the data we downloaded from the server are not being used. I was wondering if maybe we could only use the HTTP Range header to download partial data and analysis it ?
