To overcome the difficulties mainly due to the installation of server side software dependencies, an "all-in-one" installation script written in bash was created to facilitate this step on a server with a compatible Linux distribution.
You must have access to your server via SSH and a root account to use it, which will install the dependencies. Contact your provider if you do not have that.

  • Reporting duplicated frames with FFmpeg

    10 juillet 2018, par Calculon

I am looking for a method to report (not just detect and remove) duplicated frames of video detected by FFmpeg - similar to how you can print out blackdetect, cropdetect, silencedetect, etc.

    For example :

    ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vf blackdetect -an -f null - 2>&1 | grep blackdetect > output.txt

    Outputs something like :

    [blackdetect @ 0x7f8032f03680] black_start:5.00501 black_end:7.00701 black_duration:2.002

But there’s no "dupedetect" filter as far as I know, so I’m looking for any ideas/workarounds to get a read of where frames are duplicated.

  • ffmpeg - how can I scale the video while perserving the total frames in it ?

    14 juin 2018, par choz

    I have a video with a size of 515 x 755, that I would like to resize proportionally to 206 x 302 (so, factor is 2.5).

In this video, I have the total of 588 frames, and I use ffmpeg to scale it, with this command.

    ffmpeg -i video.mp4 -vf scale=206:-1 xRotation_206.mp4

And I use this to check how many frames are there in the video, based on this answer.

    ffmpeg -i video.mp4 -map 0:v:0 -c copy -f null - 2>&1 | awk '/frame=/ {print $2}'

The original video frames is good (588 frames). But, after resizing with the command above, my converted video now has 604 frames.

The question is, how can I resize the video by preserving the total frames in it ? It doesn’t really have to be ffmpeg approach, and any suggestion is appreciated.

Here’s the sample video that I use : Link

  • Create I Frame out of P and B frames

15 mai 2018, par Eugene Alexeev

I’ve written a C++ converter based on FFMpeg which can receive a link to hls-stream and convert it into local .mp4 video. So far, so good, converter works like a charm, no questions about that.

PROBLEM : No matter what input source I’m providing to the converter, at the end of convertation I need to receive video with key-frames ONLY. I need such video due to perfect seeking forward and reverse.

It’s a well-known fact that subsidiary video frames (P and B) dependent on their owner-frame (I frame), because this frame contains full pixel map. According to that, we can recreate a I frame for each P and B frame by merging their data with their I frame. That’s why such ffmpeg command ffmpeg -i video.mp4 output%4d.jpg works.

QUESTION : How can I implement an algorithm of merging of frames in order to recreate Key-frames ONLY video at the end ? What kind of quirks I need to know about merging datas of AVPackets ?

    Thanks.
