    Which one of CAVLC or CABAC is more popular in H264 videos. Do not depend on the container (e.g MKV, MP4 or AVI) ?
    I know that ffmpeg uses CABAC by default, and Google recommends CABAC for YouTube videos.

    I can’t find any reference to compare.
    Who can help me ?

    People usually quote compression ratio, but I’m interested in how well they perform on old computers and mobile phones. I’m interested in cpu usage, battery usage, and if they require/benefit from SIMD.

    I’m not sure if it still matters by now, everyone seems to buy new hardware every few years.

  • How to convert popular video formats into each other using Python without FFmpeg ?

    I am creating a universal file convert in Python using various image or document processing modules and now the goal was to able to convert video files. The only way I was able to find was using FFmpeg but I wanted my application to be standalone without requiring other applications. Is there any way to convert video formats without using FFmpeg ?
