I guess this is more of a conceptual question than a technical one.
I’m trying to figure out the best way to upload short videos to a server and also be able to download them and watch them on both Android and iOS.
Lets focus on Android for the moment.
I’ve done some experiments, and my results have been :
I’m able to compress 12-14MB video down to 500KB using FFMPEG lib with pretty good results in quality, but it takes about 12 seconds.
Next, im uploading those videos to my Parse backend as ParseFile to store them.
Finally, i can download them and watch them with no problem using a VideoView widget.
Now, for the tests i’ve been running, these are great results. But i want to see if there is a better way to manage and scale all of this.
My questions are :
Is there a better, lighter way to compress video ?
Is Parse the right way to go ?
How can i stream videos instead of downloading them and storing the on local storage before playing them ? i know this will cause my app to use significant space on disk and i dont want that.
How do big companies do this kind of tasks ?
I’ve heard Amazon S3 is a cool thing for projects like this one, also Google Cloud Platform. I want to understand the best approach before building everything so i can do it the right way and also, provide the absolute best user experience for watching these videos.
so I am currently building a Website for School and implemented an Upload-System. Now I want People to be able to watch uploaded Videos. Currently if you try to watch a Video, lets say test.mp4 it takes over a minute to load. I know that using : ffmpeg -i inputvideo.mp4 -movflags faststart -acodec copy -vcodec copy outputvideo.mp4 moves the atom moov to the beginning of the file. And when I manually convert the mp4 using the previous command the file starts playing instantly. But now my problem is, that I don't want to convert each file manually. Is there another way of playing user-uploaded Videos instantly ? Thanks for your help in advance.

I am using this Code, but it has nothing to do with the streaming itself I guess :

<source src="Clap.mp4" type="video/mp4">
Your browser does not support the video tag.

</source>
I´ve installed all the required packages and now it is time to "Configure ParaView With CMake".
When I do this recomended code
mkdir $HOME/projects/ParaView-bin
cd $HOME/projects/ParaView-bin
ccmake $HOME/projects/ParaView3
the terminal shows this :
CMake Error : The source "/home/kulis/projects/ParaView3/CMakeLists.txt" does
not match the source "/home/kulis/projects/ParaView/CMakeLists.txt" used to
generate cache. Re-run cmake with a different source directory.
so instead of ParaView3 I use ParaView in code : ccmake $HOME/projects/ParaView
then its possible to set all the variables and compile. But there comes the real problem. When i want to compile it, the terminal shows this error message :
ERROR ADD_PARAVIEW_VIEW_MODULE called without VIEW_TYPE or VIEW_XML_GROUP
CMake Error : The following variables are used in this project, but they are set to NOTFOUND.
Please set them or make sure they are set and tested correctly in the CMake files :
